The Magic Box has won in the category Form, yay! So, what does this mean? Well, since this is a weekend project of mine, It's still very unfinished. Therefore, I need YOUR help to develop Magic Box further. You can help a lot by sending all your thoughs, suggestions and ideas to alex@studioludens.com.

NEW VERSION

This is the new version (alpha 0.5.5) of Magic Box. It is now possible to save your design in an SVG that actually works on the lasercutters in the Fablab. I tried it on the lasercutter from Fablab Amsterdam, and I got some good results already!

What if you could make a box for your own design made at one of the Fablabs? The Magic Box application lets you do just that! You can use it to create a box for any of the designs that are made in the (un)limited design contest. It uses the basic shape of a box and lets you adjust the width, height and depth and a couple of other parameters. When you have set all the parameters, save the box outline as an SVG and cut it on the vinyl cutter or laser cutter. It can even adjust for the thickness of the material you are using.

Magic Box is still in active development and we only have one box shape implemented. So, if you have ideas about other kinds of boxes please let me know and I can implement them too!
