Short Description:

It all started off with an idea in 2005: to produce chocolate letters in the shape of mathematical symbols. The letters would be sold, at a price to cover the costs, to the public attending the yearly Reunion of the National Organization of Mathematics Teachers. This idea stayed in my sub conscience for quite a while, but in July 2008 it sprang out again. Doing an internet search I found out that a mould could be produced at FabLab Amsterdam. We (Mike Pelletier and me; Thanks, Mike!) started off with the mould for the symbol pi. Some 200 letters were sold during the Reunion.

This hobby project became bigger when a journalist of a national newspaper, NRC-Handelsblad, approached me, having read my weblog http://chocopi.blogspot.com/. The outcome was that Choco-pi was sold in the newspaper’s web shop, to celebrate Pi-day 2009.

In September 2009 Choco-pi will become a regular product in my own web shop http://www.tastymaths.nl/.
