Premsela, Dutch Platform for Design and Fashion has been working since 2002 to improve the cultural climate for design in the Netherlands. Premsela pursues this goal through the production of lectures, debates, exhibitions, research and publications in the Netherlands and abroad. In the coming years, Premsela will conduct multiyear programmes in the areas of design heritage and history, globalisation, and amateurism. Premsela also publishes Morf, the Netherlands' largest design magazine, and the international portal design.nl.

Waag Society is a medialab founded in 1994 and based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Waag Society researches, develops concepts, pilots and prototypes. It uses technology in creative ways to foster social and cultural innovation.
Waag Society has an international reputation and is one of the largest creative medialabs worldwide. It develops new media and e-culture projects in the areas of healthcare, society, culture and education.
Waag Society's method of Creative Research includes experimental, interdisciplinary research that involves artists, designers and users who all have a substantial influence on the result of its projects: the principle of Users as Designers. Waag Society is also one of the founders of Creative Commons Netherlands.

A Fablab is a fabrication laboratory. It is equipped with a number of computer controlled machines suited to build prototypes and models. Fablab is a concept by Neil Gershenfeld, MIT (USA). It operates under the principles of open source and open content.

PICNIC takes place at Culture Park Westergasfabriek every year at the end of September since 2006.
