Light cubes

Step 4: Electronics

If you want to add the described interactivity

to the cubes you have to integrate infra-red

leds and optical sensors. This is the reason

why I placed the part in the middle a little bit more

inside. This way it can always receive his own infrared

light and so now that it stands next to something.

Arduino is a very good solution for designer which do not have much experience with

programming. You can connect the LED's and optical sensors to the bord

and receive the data. This way you can see which of the 4 optical sensors (left right bottom top)

gets a signal. With this data you can influence the color of a LED for example.

I only implented this in one cube. For the other cubes I

used one LED, a switch and a battery. To prevent from looking directly into the LED (which makes it ugly)

I placed half a sphere on top of it.
