Open design in Berlin

DMY International Design Festival

Design in the Netherlands has developed rapidly, not in the least because of an open minded and experimental design mentality. (Un)limited Dutch Design at DMY 2010 celebrates the unlimited possibilities of design within the context of shared creativity, open technology and digital fabrication.

(Un)limited Design Expo
A selection of (Un)limited Design Contest designs is displayed at DMY. Featuring's expo design is integrated in the Evolving Document and will grow during DMY. Designs made on the spot are added to the exhibition, making it the heart of the (Un)limited Design community of open design practice.

(Un)limited Design Contest
Started last year, (Un)limited Design Contest is an experiment in open design. Participants can submit original designs or copy and adapt other participants’ entries to the contest. This year’s themes for the contest include Form, Food, Fashion and Fusion.

(Un)limited Design Sessions
Every day, lunch sessions are scheduled to get you going with the (Un)limited Design Contest and the use of the Fablab machinery. Well- known designers and experienced engineers will boost your creativity on the themes of Form, Food, Fashion and Fusion.

(Un)limited Design Talk
At the (Un)limited Design Talk on Friday, the effects of open design will be discussed with experts and participants. Hosted by: Jeanne Tan (Design.nl).

(Un)limited Design Book
During the concluding workshop on Sunday, visitors can write collaboratively for a publication on open design. Drafts finished by the end of the session might be published in the (Un)limited Design Book which will be launched at PICNIC, Amsterdam. Hosted by Tommi Laitio.

(Un)limited Fablab Amsterdam
The Fablab at DMY is temporary but fully functional. In the workshop professionals and enthusiasts can use computer-driven production machines, such as 3D milling machines and 2D laser cutters. At Fablab you can make almost anything!
